The 8 Days, 7 Nights Kenya Safari Itinerary begins with an introduction to the unabashedly stunning Lewa Downs.

It also brings you to Crescent Island for a walking game-scenery aesthetic, which is paired with a boat excursion on Lake Naivasha.

The safari, however, brings you to Ol Pejeta between Lewa Downs and Lake Naivasha. Do you recall Sudan?

He was the final male northern white rhino to die in 2018, unfortunately.

He was staying in Ol Pejeta, which is the only safari site in the world where the two last northern white rhinos may be seen.

Combine it with riding in Hell's Gate National Park, directly after Crescent Island, and you have a trip to remember.

Of course, no Kenya travel itinerary is complete without a visit to the Masai Mara National Reserve's Savannah grasslands. Masai Mara will be your home for three days.

This provides several possibilities to observe and photograph the Big Five, film a cheetah on the hunt, embark on a hot air balloon safari, and visit a Maasai settlement.

The best is saved for last: your Kenya itinerary 8-day package concludes with a visit to the spectacular Giraffe Center.

You can cover the best destinations in Kenya with our 8-day, 7-night Kenya wildlife safari itinerary.

Itineraries

Day 1

Pick up from JKIA, Flight to Lewa Down, & Spend 1-Night (Game Drives and Other Activities

You are our top priority as a client. Our expert safari guide comes to the airport one hour before you arrive, so you know someone will be waiting for you in Kenya.

Your tour guide will attend to all of your needs, allowing you to relax and enjoy the safari.

After greeting you, the tour leader will inform you about the safari and welcome you to your transfer vehicle. It's around a 30-minute drive from JKIA to Wilson Airport to get an early flight to Lewa Downs.

When you arrive, our local staff will be waiting for you in a beautiful 4x4 Safari vehicle.

The guide will assist you in checking into Lewa House for some well-deserved rest before the first game drive of your 8-day Kenya trip.
Lewa Downs is around 250 kilometers from Nairobi, a distance that can be accomplished in less than an hour by aircraft.

The reserve includes the indigenous woodland of Ngare Ndare, which is tucked on the slopes of Mt. Kenya.

Today, you take a tour of the UNESCO-designated world heritage site, first encountering the eastern black rhinos, who account for 12% of the eastern black rhino population in Kenya.

There will be plenty of Grevy's zebra, sitatunga, and, of course, the big five.

The park's population of around 350 Grevy's zebra is the greatest in any park globally.
The day comes to a close as the sun sets, which is the ideal time to return to your lodging for supper and relaxation.

Day 2

Transfer to Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Game Drives, & Meet the Northern White Rhinos

Because the reserve is just 70 kilometers distant, a mini-trip from Lewa Downs to Ol Pejeta will only take one and a half hours.

With a 4x4 safari land cruiser, you are presented with the beauty of the conservancy, with our expert guide ensuring you don't miss a thing.

The guide drives you through the conservancy's wetlands, semi-arid grasslands, riverine woods, and woodlands, pausing only briefly to photograph and savor Mt. Kenya's breathtaking view.

The big five, rhino, lion, elephant, buffalo, elephant, and leopard, are all present in abundance here.

Expect to witness hyenas, hippos, giraffes, monkeys, dik-dik, gazelles, impalas, elands, jackals, and African wild dogs as well.

You will make a stop at the Ol Pejeta Endangered Species Boma, which is, in my opinion, the most interesting area of Ol Pejeta.

You may read about the two northern white rhinos, who are the only ones left in the world.

There are also Jackson's hartebeest, two black rhinos, many Grevy's zebras, and six southern white rhinos within the Boma.

It's a joy to feed Baraka the blind rhino.

After lunch, you will go to the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary, a wildlife park dedicated to the protection of orphaned indigenous chimps. More than 40 chimps are grouped.

Day 3

Transfer to Naivasha, Boat Ride at Lake Naivasha & Walking Safari at Crescent Island

Nanyuki is a short drive from Ol Pejeta; 3.5 hours, to be exact.

The short journey includes stops at the Equator Marker in Nanyuki and Thompsons Falls in Nyahururu.

You'll arrive at Lake Naivasha about midday, have lunch, rest for a few hours, and then proceed to the lake and Crescent Island.

You wander around the lake's grassy shores, taking in the breathtaking vista of the 139 km2 expanse of blue.

Lake Naivasha is home to approximately 400 bird species, each as fascinating as the next.

There will be an abundance of pelicans, fish eagles, flamingos, warblers, blue sunbirds, storks, grebes, and herons.

Of course, a boat cruise is on the agenda. You will be given a unique tour of the lake, which is the highest in the Great Rift Valley.

The boat journey provides a deeper understanding of the lake by presenting you with vegetation like papyrus and yellow fever trees, which are known to attract hippos.

The boat excursion is best accompanied by a visit to Crescent Island, where you may observe the creatures on foot.

Crescent Island's game-watching is gratifying, with an abundance of giraffes, hippos, buffaloes, antelopes, monkeys, and warthogs.

Crescent Island, Naivasha's best-kept secret, is a wildlife sanctuary that was established in 1988 to help the then-water-stressed Lake Naivasha.

The game sanctuary is a natural habitat that allows for one-on-one contact with game species. You go on a guided safari tour of the attraction.

Warthogs, zebras, impalas, hyenas, giraffes, hippos, buffalos, wildebeests, waterbucks, Kongoni, gazelles, and over 200 bird species are among the creatures.

The game sanctuary is spread out across a limited amount of land, making interaction even more personal.

The magnificently gorgeous island seamlessly blends its waterways, plants, and animals, making it ideal for nature photography.

Day 4

Cycling at Hell’s Gate National Park – Full-Day with Packed Lunch

Hell's Gate National Park, which is also located in Naivasha, is a 41-minute drive from the lake. On day 4 of your 8-day Kenya Safari itinerary, you will visit this natural beauty.

Hell's Gate boasts a breathtaking landscape, which is maybe why it has been used in high-grossing films such as The Lion King and Tomb Raiders. There's a lot of nature and terrain here, but the two towers are the most prominent.

The Fischer and Central Towers are fantastic ways to see the park. Critical elements of the park are emphasized from the top of any of them, doubling its attractiveness to ridiculous proportions.

Climbers from all around the world visit the two towers. The Obsidian Caves, nature's creation coated in rock with a black crystal-like appearance, will pique your interest.

The sheen obsidians, which are effects caused by air bubbles piling up and generating an intriguing pattern of froths, are of interest in the caves.

The caverns provide excellent learning opportunities as well as excellent photographic possibilities.

The Lower Gorge is a feature of Hell's Gate National Park.

You have an hour to explore the area, which includes amazing hot-water springs, rock formations, inventive layers, and waterfalls (both cold and hot).

You stop via the geothermal stations for a wildlife engagement session before proceeding to the grassy plains. Gazelles, giraffes, buffalos, antelopes, elands, and hartebeests are plentiful on the plains. Lions, cheetahs, and leopards can be found here, however, they are scarce.

You visit the rocky sections to look for Chanler's reedbuck, klipspringer, and hyraxes before proceeding to the park's cliff to engage with the over 103 bird species.

Cycling is the primary activity available at this UNESCO World Heritage site as you explore the park.

Day 5

Transfer to Masai Mara & Evening Game Drive at the Reserve

The Masai Mara is a 285-kilometer, five-hour journey from Naivasha, making day 5 of your eight-day safari package a road excursion.

You will stop 109 kilometers and 2 hours later in Narok town to rest your legs and get any supplies you may require.

The rest of the 3-hour trip will bring you to Masai Mara at about midday. It is the ideal time to check in, have lunch, and unwind before embarking on an evening game drive.

The evening game drive, which begins at about 3 p.m., will bring you face-to-face with the finest of Masai Mara.

It will give you an idea of what you may anticipate to see on your visit to the reserve.

Day 6

Full-Day Game Drive at Masai Mara with Picnic Lunch

After a well-prepared breakfast at the lodge, you travel out to the reserve for a wildlife drive. Our knowledgeable, Kenyan-born guides take you to the most vibrant regions of the Mara Plain, ensuring you get your money's worth.

You will travel over the Mara's awe-inspiring scenery, abundant animals, and endless grasslands aboard a 4x4 safari land cruiser.

The highlight, however, has to be the fauna. The Masai Mara contributes to 25% of Kenya's overall wildlife population of 70%.

The lions are very numerous here, with their population ranking among the highest in the world's parks.

There will also be plenty of hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, foxes, gazelles, wildebeests, elands, zebras, impalas, giraffes, duikers, and the big five. For those who arrange the journey between July and October, the big wildebeest migration is a terrific therapy.

Over 2 million wildebeests and zebras pass along the picturesque Mara River on their way to and from the Mara.

A picnic lunch is planned for midday, following which you will resume your wildlife drives. The second portion of your journey will take you through the large bird population, which presently numbers 450.

The guide enables nature photographers to participate in photographic sessions.

Day 7-8

Hot Air Balloon Ride, Visit a Maasai Village, & Evening Game Drive

On day 7 of your 8-day Kenya safari, you ride about the Mara in a hot air balloon, revealing portions of the park that the extensive grasses and shrubbery had obscured from view.

The enormous Mara plains are condensed into a length of terrain that may be explored in an hour thanks to the balloons.

The journey concludes with a champagne brunch in the middle of the bush. From here, our safari guide will pick you up and transport you to a Maasai community for a morning game drive.

Our guides have great relationships with the Maasai in this area, making your Maasai experience even more authentic and pure.

The Maasai are quite proud of their culture, so be prepared to get drawn in for a dance or two.

They bring stories and traditions about the Masai Mara and how they have survived the harsh grasslands for decades. Their artwork is stunning, so come prepared to haggle.

The cultural experience concludes at midday, which is the ideal time to return to the lodge for lunch and repose.

However, the day is not done since you have an evening game drive scheduled at 3 p.m. Day 8: Morning game drive, flight to Nairobi, launch at Carnivore Restaurant, Giraffe Center visit, and transfer to JKIA.

Masai Mara game drives are never boring, which is why you have another one today.

This journey will go until approximately 11 a.m. when you should be able to take a noon aircraft to Nairobi.

Our Nairobi safari guide will meet you at the airport and take you to Carnivore Restaurant for lunch.

Try the Ostrich and Crocodile meats at the restaurant. You will next proceed to the Giraffe Centre.

The Giraffe Centre, headquartered in Lang'ata, was established in 1979 to address the rapidly declining population of Rothschild's Giraffe.

Because of the devastation of their natural habitats, the giraffe population was rapidly declining.

You may feed, pet, kiss, and photograph the 6m tall beasts from elevated platforms.

There are also free-roaming warthogs and a nature walk that leads to the neighboring Gogo River Bird Sanctuary within the facility.

The safari guide will then transport you to Jomo Kenyatta Airport for your travel back home.

This concludes your action-packed 8-day Kenya travel plan. Bye, 'Kwaheri'.

I look forward to seeing you again.
