SARARA CAMP, SAMBURU
The arrival of a small airplane to this six-tent wilderness camp is spectacular, flying between the steep-rising peaks of northern Kenya’s Mathews Range. It was developed in collaboration with the indigenous Samburu community by third-generation Kenyans in the Namunyak Wildlife Conservancy.
Elephants from Ethiopia visit the infinity pool, while reticulated giraffes may be seen on horseback rides. The Singing Wells, where herders serenade their animals while digging for water, is open to visitors.
The Reteti Elephant Orphanage, which was established in collaboration with the community, lies nearby.
